Mykhailo & Anastasiia – Intimate Micro Wedding in Cardiff, South Wales
Mykhailo & Anastasiia’s Cardiff micro wedding began at the National Museum Cardiff as the low autumn sun started to set. The couple had just come from their ceremony at the Cardiff Registry Office, glowing with excitement. Golden hour sunshine gave the museum’s sandstone bricks an almost ethereal feel — the perfect environment to start our photography adventure!
The couple had asked for a long session of wedding portraits across Cardiff to commemorate their marriage day. Their trust in me as a photographer gave me such freedom to creatively capture their love for each other. These first few photos at the museum are still some of my favourite to this day!
Wedding Photos in Alexandra Gardens
Our gentle walk through Cardiff next took us to Alexandra Gardens, near Cardiff University’s main building. Beautiful architecture here gives the photos a timeless feel. Soft evening light beautifully highlighted Mykhailo & Anastasiia as we strolled around the monument and took a seat on a nearby bench. A handful of close family and friends then joined us for a few group photos before we moved on to our next location.
Relaxed Photos in Bute Park
The fiery glow of the remaining autumn leaves greeted us as we arrived at Bute Park. Low sun lit up the leaves, creating a beautiful background for these photos. A pathway here gave us some lovely leading lines, helping me frame Mykhailo & Anastasiia for more gorgeous wedding portraits. We also grabbed a couple of photos with Cardiff Castle in the background — which I thought looked so cool! — before having fun with motion blur shots and silhouetted portraits.
Castle Arcade – Cardiff Wedding Portraits
As it was a cold, autumn day we took a short break inside the Castle Arcade to warm up. I captured a few quick detail photos of Mykhailo & Anastasiia’s rings while they enjoyed a hot drink. Afterwards we walked the arcade for more portraits, with Christmassy lights hanging from the balcony adding a festive accent. The arcades always provide the perfect backdrop to any photography session. In this case, the warm, tungsten lights paired with Mykhailo & Anastasiia’s love to create a beautiful, romantic ambiance in the photos.
Cardiff City Centre Wedding Reception at the Coppa Club
Our wedding photowalk concluded at The Cardiff Townhouse in Cardiff City Centre. This venue was set up perfectly for the evening reception. The staff were very welcoming, even allowing us to arrive a bit early to capture some more photos inside. A small group of Mykhailo & Anastasiia’s family and friends greeted us there, giving us another opportunity to capture some group photos. After that we had some fun with direct flash photos, before ending the evening off with the cake cutting.
